CITIUS, ALTIUS, FORTIUS

Padaj, a mi ćemo igrati.

Idemo dalje, glavom kroz zid!

Remember when we told ya last week “Brace yourself, winter will never leave”? Well we were right!

Snow is our reality and, especially this year, it has accompanied us for last 6 months, challenging us to do even more.

We will not lie to you, we enjoyed the victory these last two days. A win, associated with drying clothes and resting sore knees with Ibuprofen, Tylol and tea, but certainly well deserved. After three years, and in our fourth competitive, we were able to defeat the Patriots and we feel satisfied and rewarded for the work and dedication. We won in a fair, honest and very nice game, with no serious injuries, as that has certainly been one of the biggest concerns before the start of the match.

We will utilize the opportunity to thank our soon-to-be referee and a helping hand, Dženana, as well as Tuzla Saltminers, who were with us and without whom the organization of this match would not be possible. Special thanks go to our Lion from Bijeljina, Stefan, who was part of the snow gridiron at Koševo, and our Saša from our flag football academy, who was part of our sideline.

A special paragraph of gratitude, regardless of the rivalry, goes to Patriots, who have played this game, faced with a strong storm. we need to do that, because in today’s sports world, millions, big stadiums, technology, marketing, sale and resale of all kinds of things, from jerseys to dignity, somehow kidnapped the charm of the competition and especially in a city where the football / soccer derby is more interesting because of fans choreography than the game itself, we (both Patriots and Spartans) give ourselves credit, because we have no other choice but sport and love for this game. Our reality is that one such delayed match, in which we enter financially, physically and mentally, costs a lot, and love for the sport is stronger than any financial gain (because there is none, really), and we ask ourselves, and all you whom sport is a hobby or a profession, why are we going to watch/play football/tennis/basketball/etc.? Money, prestige, Instagram, or because of talented boys and girls, responsible and committed individuals and teams, the best possible role models for the children and all of us, who give up personal interests in order to show that they can do CITIUS, ALTIUS, FORTIUS – faster, higher, stronger?

Picture that was taken by chance at the end of the match between the Spartans and Patriots suits best to this text, and it is kind of statement about the sport and what should sport represent. Above our players we can see a sign Respect and a symbol of the Winter Olympic Games in Sarajevo, and therefore in some way an answer to our previous question imposes itself: With respect, faster, stronger, better!

Next stop Mostar, Sharks will be waiting on us!

Moving on, head through a wall!
